Wesco Launch New Retro Cookware Range

February 2005

German home and kitchenware's manufacturer Wesco has launched a stunning retro range of coloured cookware. This is the first ever cookware range specifically designed to complement the outstanding popularity of retro styled kitchen appliances.

Following the enduring appeal of its 40s and 50s inspired retro collection of bins and storage containers, Wesco has made the natural progression to cookware. This exciting new range features the same combination of stainless steel, coloured enamel and domed lids that have been Wesco design hallmarks since 1867.

The cookware range will be available from July in almond and red which are Wesco’s most popular colours throughout Europe. These colours have been specifically chosen to complement appliances by leading brands Dualit and KitchenAid. The new Wesco range will be displayed alongside Dualit and KitchenAid products during its official UK launch at the The Spring Fair 2005 at the Birmingham NEC. The range will also be launched in mainland Europe at Ambiente 2005 in Frankfurt, where a new metallic chocolate colour will be also be launched.

With high quality 18/10 stainless steel, enamel coating and encapsulated aluminium base for even heat distribution, the Wesco cookware range is suitable for all types of hob, including induction and comes complete with a lifetime guarantee. All products are dishwasher safe and feature stainless steel handles and lids. The premium quality cookware range comprises a 14cm milk pan, 16, 18 and 20cm saucepans with lid, a 24cm casserole with lid, a 24cm open fry pan and stove top kettle. Items are priced between £27 and £70 RSP and are targeted at department stores, mail order, independent cook shops and lifestyle retailers.

“With colour being such an integral part of Wesco’s product development strategy, its venture into cookware is a logical move,” says John Newcomb, Commercial Director of Imperial, Wesco’s exclusive trading partner in UK and Eire. He continues, “The consumer has long since had the choice of excellent quality retro kitchenware and appliances such as Dualit, KitchenAid, Smeg and Wesco. But until now, they have not had the opportunity to coordinate cookware. Wesco’s new cookware range looks stunning, is excellent value for money and we are confident that it will represent an outstanding commercial opportunity for all customers.”

Wesco’s comprehensive household range comprises pedal bins, designer waste bins, bread bins and kitchen accessories. Retailers need not carry any large items in stock, as Imperial can offer a next day delivery service direct to the consumer’s home for a £10 surcharge as and when required.
